What's new in Odoo 20 Inventory

Odoo 20 makes the warehouse smarter about what to buy and clearer about what is already on the shelves. The headline change is that reordering rules can now propose their own minimum and maximum levels.

Suggested minimum and maximum levels

Reordering rules can suggest min and max quantities from your demand history, the number of days of coverage you want, and how often you order. Instead of setting reorder points once and forgetting them, buyers get levels that follow real demand.

Stock aging and stock at any date

A stock aging report is available in the Moves Analysis pivot, so you can see how long stock has been sitting and how much cash it ties up. You can also view inventory at any past timestamp, which helps with audits, month-end checks and investigations.

One traceability report

Upstream and downstream lots and serial numbers now appear together in a single report. For pharma, food and manufacturing companies, a recall or quality investigation starts from one screen instead of several.

Intercompany flows

Multi-company groups can resupply one company from another by route, ship from another company's warehouse, and carry the valuation cost across. This removes many of the manual intercompany transfers groups use today.

Landed costs, variants and returns

Landed costs can be applied to individual products in a transfer. HS codes and packagings can be set per product variant. A prefilled CMR document is available for road freight, and a simpler returns process replaces the old return wizard.

Valuation without the Inventory app

Stock valuation can now run without installing the full Inventory app, which suits companies that only need valued stock in accounting. Point of Sale can also run a simplified inventory on its own.

What this means for companies in Kuwait

Trading companies with seasonal demand, such as Ramadan and summer peaks, benefit most from suggested reorder levels. Groups with several companies under one owner, which is common in Kuwait, can finally model intercompany supply in the system instead of in spreadsheets.
